“The telling of stories is a way of making sense of the world, a way of finding order in the chaos of human experience."

FAQs

  • A mentor of mine once likened a script editor to a “story engineer,” and I’ve always thought it was a brilliant metaphor. Much like an engineer, who applies tried-and-tested principles to design, develop and maintain systems, a script editor does the same with stories - applying time-honoured techniques to help stories take shape, evolve, and hold together.

My job is to climb inside a script, crawl through its twists and turns, and figure out where it’s working, where it’s not, and why.

I’m a specialist with years of experience in both the technical and creative aspects of storytelling. With in-depth knowledge of story structure and craft, I provide expert insight and practical solutions to help storytellers shape their stories in the clearest, most compelling way.

  • First things first, don’t worry - every project and every development process is unique and we can move forward in a way that works best for you.

If you’d like to email me outlining your goals for the process, that’s great. Alternatively, if you’d prefer to schedule a free Zoom meeting to discuss your needs, that works too. There’s absolutely no obligation to commit to any service after our Zoom meeting.

  • You can find some pricing on the services page. For longer, script editing services, pricing is based on both the project's current stage of development and your desired timeline.

I promise fair rates and will always require your approval before we begin.

  • Every development process is unique, and there are many ways we can work together.

You might need just a single session through my:

Script Reading Service – I’ll read your script or outline and meet with you once to discuss it in detail, setting you on a path toward revisions or progress.

Or you may prefer a more in-depth approach with the:

Script Editing Service – You can hire me as your script editor, working through multiple draft stages, including revisions.

We’ll discuss the best option in our first consultation, and if your needs change along the way, we can adjust accordingly.

  • I have worked with projects at all stages of development. There is no right or wrong answer to this question.

Early Stages - If you're still shaping your story, I can help you refine the concept, structure, and character arcs before you start writing the script in full.

First Draft - Once you have your first draft, I can give you a fresh perspective on character, structure, pacing, tone and dialogue.

Later Drafts - The approach above also applies to any subsequent drafts.

  • Absolutely! Your work and everything we discuss will always remain confidential. Confidentiality is a core value for script editors, which is why you won’t find a list of all the projects they’re working on.
